Steve and I left home at
6.00a.m. and arrived at a park and realised that there was nobody at the
parking lot. There were no signs or advertisements that pointed out that it’s
the Score Cupid Run. We were like “OMG”, I think we went to the wrong park. I
started calling Cindy and Rinnie as they had already arrived at the right park.
So we decided to ask the
GPS again and Waze and we are about 15 minutes away from the actual park. We
arrived at the correct park at 6.45a.m. and the run was supposed to start at 7 am.
There was a huge queue / traffic jam going into the entrance of the park, so
Steve and I decided to just park at the shoulder of the road and walk into the
park instead.
We headed towards the
toilet as we need to collect our race packs from Virginie, who managed to find
a parking nearby there.
After wearing our
t-shirts and meeting the rest, i.e. Sheila, Sue, Michelle, Rinnie and Cindy, we
walked towards the starting point of the run.
We waited and waited and
waited. The organiser decided to flag off at 7.30am by allowing approximately
100 runners only. After 10 minutes, approximately another 100 runners and so
on. When they reached the 4th round, they decided to let the rest go
as they could see the rest of the runners were being impatient and
restless. We started the run at 7.50am.
I was telling Steve it’s
going to be a fun run and we need to stop at the pit stop. He was complaining
non-stop from the beginning of the run.
After walking approximately 1 km, we arrived at our 1st pit stop. We had to queue
to take pictures with the Disney princesses and we played a game, separating
the green beans from the white beans within 30 seconds. Cindy and I were
partners and we managed to do it within the stipulated timeline and we won
ourselves, Jack and Jill potatoes’ crisps and Cream-O chocolate cookies
(similar to Oreos).
Then, we continued to
walk until we came to the 2nd pit stop. We queued up for a game called
unlocking locks. We needed to find the correct key (1 out of 10) to unlock the
lock within 30 seconds. As the queue was getting long, the organiser decided
that they should reduce the time to 20 seconds and reduces the number of keys.
Cindy said to choose the smallest key and I managed to unlock it with just 1 try.
We were asked to choose a tutu, flower headband or power bank as our gift.
Unfortunately, the power bank was the popular choice and it was long gone, so we
decided on flower headband. I chose purple flower headband for Salaree.

There was also photo
taking under the decorated tent by putting on the tutu and again, photo session
with the Disney princesses, which we decided to skip and run to the next pit
stop.

We walked and ran and
passed the bridge, covered with rose petals across a beautiful man-make lake. After
the bridge, there comes the water station that serve Revive isotonic drink and
mineral water. Along the run, there were toilets in the park.

The 3rd and
final pit stop was indeed the nicest spot to snap photos. There was a long queue to take photo with the
horse and carriage. While I was queuing up, Steve went up to the staircase
tower to snap a photo of the surroundings.
When our turn to take picture finally came, we were informed by the
organiser again that the queue is very long and not to climb up to the
carriage. I was pretty disappointed so I just stand on the carriage staircase.

After the horse and
carriage photo session, we proceed to take photo at the pumpkin booth and
thereafter at the bicycle balloon arch.

So again, Steve was
complaining as we took about 2 hours to complete the 4km fun run and he was unable
to time himself how long he will take to complete a 4km run.
Upon arrival at the
finishing line, we were separated to man and woman sections as the heart shaped
medal was different. Once you combine 2 medals together, it becomes the
interlocking heart medal (2 in 1). We were also given bread roll and proceed to
take our paper cups Revive isotonic drink or mineral water.
There were booths set up
to entertain the runners, i.e. water paint brush, where the artist will paint a
small picture onto your arms/legs, zumba session, food stall and photo session
booth. There were other vendors as well selling their merchandise, for example
drinks, ice-cream and kites (since Kepong Metropolitan Park is also well known
as a kite-flying park).
Although, we paid RM85 per person, the goodies bag and the medal
were worth it. But I felt it could have been better if the organiser could have
been punctual with the flagged off time and if I remembered correctly, there
was supposed to be the 4th pit stop, but there was no 4th
pit stop.
