SkyCab, Langkawi – 24 September 2016

From our resort at Pantai Cenang to SkyCab Langkawi, it took us approximately 30 minutes to drive.

Upon arrival, there is premier and normal parking. We decided to park at the normal parking as it was just a short distance to walk to the entrance. The price for normal parking was only RM5.00 for our few hours stay there.

Before reaching the ticket counter for the SkyCab, you will go through all the shops selling local handicrafts, t-shirts, souveniers, toys and drinks.

At the ticket counter, there will be guides rendering their help to guide you as to which combo package is suitable for your family. After going through all the combo packages with the guide, we decided on the basic package. Here are the details of the package and other packages:

If you choose Combo E, you will spent almost the whole day! That’s not what we wanted.

If you later decide that you would like to do other activities, you can still purchase the respective tickets at the entrance of the activities. The individual tickets will cost just a few ringgits more. But if you buy the Combo E, you are stuck and will have to go through each and every activity and queue up for it.

For the basic package, we got to visit the SkyDome and SkyCab. We were more interested in SkyBridge, for which we were told that, you can only purchase the tickets once you reach at the top. Our basic package did not include SkyBridge.

SkyDome. Not entertaining at all but you have to go through this before you board your SkyCab
SkyCab
SkyBridge
SkyGlide
After we have completed the above, we walked around the park and we were not very keen on other activities. We had snacks there for which the price was not cheap.

Check out the pricing for the other activities:

In my view, it’s worth to settle for the basic package. Check out the pictures below:-

Check out the queue. This is still alright

Entrance to SkyBridge

Magnificent view. It's a MUST to do SkyBridge

Relaxing on the see through glass

Buy your padlock and seal your love
It's only RM1.00 but also absolutely rubbish. Don't waste your RM1.00

View from SkyCab on Base Station

Cafe at Top Station

Tips:
  1. Try to go there early, around opening time.
  2. Upon buying your tickets, go straight for the SkyDome and SkyCab. The queue may be very long during peak season and weekends.
  3. Once you are on the Base Station for your SkyCab ride, take the SkyCab and go all the way up to the Top Station. Do not stop at the Middle Station as you may have difficulty in getting into the next SkyCab. Usually, tourists will go all the way up so the SkyCab that arrives at Middle Station will be full.
  4. It’s worth going for the SkyBridge. If you don’t like to walk down from the Top Station to the SkyBridge, it would be better to take the SkyGlide. Again, there will be queue as there is only one SkyGlide to bring you up and down.
  5. Once you are done with SkyCab and SkyBridge, go down to the Base Station and decide whether you would like to do the rest of the rides and museums.
  6. Remember to bring your hat and umbrella, as it's very hot. Please apply sun cream if you don't want to get burned.

Langkawi, 3 days 2 nights from 23 – 25 Sept 2016

We flew in the afternoon from KLIA 2 to Langkawi (1 hour journey). When we arrived (exit from the arrival door), we went to the car rental counter to rent a car for our trip. There are several car rental companies to choose from and all of them are giving discounts to fight for customers.

There were so many choices to choose from. The rental for a Toyata Vios was RM80 per day and a Toyota Innova was RM90 per day. We decided on a spacious MPV Nissan Grand Lavina. We paid RM180 for 2 days and a deposit of RM100 (refundable when you return the car at the airport). It’s very convenient to rent a car and the car is parked outside at the airport. All you need to bring is your driver’s license, GPS or your mobile phone for Waze.

Our rented car
Once we were inside the car, we drove to our resort, Sunset Beach Resort at Pantai Cenang, situated about 15 minutes’ drive from the airport.

So here were our itineraries during our stay in Langkawi:-

Day 1

Upon arrival at Sunset Beach Resort, we proceed to the reception for check-in. Although this resort is small and it’s kind of a garden resort (all chalet rooms surrounded by plants), this resort is conveniently located in the heart of Pantai Cenang, i.e. 5 minutes’ walk to the Cenang shopping mall and Langkawi aquarium. There are no restaurants at this resort but you can get food easily outside the resort.

Reception at Sunset Beach Resort

We went to the beach behind the resort, toured around Pantai Cenang in the evening and had dinner at Subway sandwich.

We also managed to buy alcohol at the nearby supermarket, nearby our resort.
Check out the prices
You can only get it in Langkawi, not in KL and UK anymore

Day 2

We started Day 2 with a trip to SkyCab Langkawi (Langkawi cable car) and a trip to the 7 waterfalls. For details of the:-
Being all sweaty and tired, we continued our journey to Kuah town and a visit to the Eagle of Langkawi. We managed to park across the road and walked through the zig zag park. There are a lot of visitors and we had to queue to get a picture in front of the eagle.

Thereafter, we proceed to the Kuah jetty for some refreshments, i.e. Starbucks. However, the price in Starbucks is the same as in KL Starbucks.

We drove to Kota Mahsuri but the place was closed at 6pm, so we drove back to our resort to freshen up. We had our dinner at a local Thai Malay restaurant.

Day 3:

After breakfast at McDonalds, window shopping at Coco Valley mall (beside Underwater World Langkawi), it was time to check-out from the resort at 12pm.

Since our flight was in the evening, our 1st stop was Kota Mahsuri. For details of Kota Mahsuri, please go to:-

After spending about an hour and a half, we drove to the Field of Burnt Rice (Beras Terbakar). For details of Burnt Field, please go to:-

After the Field of Burnt Rice, we drove to Pantai Kok and drove back to Pantai Cenang, where we had our lunch/tea at McDonalds again.

We returned our car at the airport at about 5pm.

Details about the resort and other charges:

Beach

A quiet nice beach to walk on and to enjoy the cool breeze at the back of the resort. Not many people were swimming at the beach due to strong waves.

Room

We stayed in a Standard Double Room. Inside the room, it’s spacious and pretty basic, i.e. queen size double bed, TV, towels, shampoo, showel gel, air-cond, mini fridge and water heater shower facility.
