Ice-Watch Light Up the Night Run - 6 December 2015

Time - Flagged off at 8 p.m. for 10 km and 8.15p.m. for 5 km

Category - 5 km Women Open              

Venue - Plaza Shah Alam

Price - RM45.00 for the run and RM4.50 for administration fee, total of RM49.50     

Race Pack - Orange T-Shirt and registration number and name bib in a red bag

Goodies - A medal and e-certificate upon finishing the run. Light glow sticks and rubber                  wrist bands obtained at the counters prior to the run

The Pole Ninjas strike AGAIN, but this time with a night run. The weather forecast for 6 December 2015 in Shah Alam was rain with thunderstorm. It was pouring heavily in the afternoon and certain parts of Klang Valley were flooded. Luckily, when night fell, the rain had stopped and it was just nice for us to run. We decided to sign up for this run because of the colourful medal. For this run, we had Anne Chang, Virginie, Rinnie, Sheila, Sun Wei, Cynthia and ME.

I must say this run was pretty straight forward. We ran along the straight main road, passing by all the houses and thereafter, making a turn back to the starting point, with just one water station, i.e. one bottle of mineral water and no portable toilets available for this run.

When we arrived at the finishing point, we were asked to queue for our medal. We also had to queue for one banana and a can of Red Bull.

Garfield Run - 26 December 2015

• Race Pack - Yellow Garfield T-Shirt, registration wrist tag, Garfield plush pillow, all in a yellow drawstring bag
• Goodies - A Garfield medal upon finishing the run   

For this run, I decided to join my brother’s team (Wandee, Kim, Simon Yip, Grace Naramol and Kim’s friend Margaret).

I also met some of my team members from the Pole Ninjas, (Rinnie and Cindy). The weather forecast for 26 December 2015 was sunny and it was indeed a horrible run with the scorching sun that was enough to give me a bad headache throughout the run!

We were flagged off at 4.45pm sharp with the Garfield and Odie mascots cheering the runners on stage. Many of the runners decided to stop for a while to take pictures with them, which caused a human traffic jam. At first, I thought we were supposed to run towards Padang Merbuk and go around Bank Negara. The organiser decided to change the route and we were asked to run on hilly roads heading towards Aswara and the buildings around there. 

Some people fainted along the run as it was really hot. There were 2 water stations and the organiser served Revive isotonic drinks. There were also portable toilets prepared for the run.

When we arrived at the finishing point, we were given our Garfield medal and a bottle of Revive.   

There were carnivals but it didn't look fun or interesting to me.

As for the price that we paid for this run, I must say it was worth it for that heavy Garfield medal, T-shirt, drawstring bag and isotonic drinks, and the organiser had done a good job.
