Dino Fun Run 2017

• Flagged off at 8.15a.m for 4km fun run.

• Price – RM60.00 for adult (early bird)

              RM50.00 for kids (early bird)

              (admin fee of RM3.00 for kids and RM3.60 for adults)  

• Running Kit – T-shirt and registration bib
• Goodies – Drawstring bag, medal, small face towel and bun. Mineral water to be obtained nearby the stage.   

This was our 2^nd time running at this park and we like this park a lot. However, the park is no longer that nice as there is construction going on and on that day itself there was a fishing competition.  So it was super crowded, even without the running event.

The event started off with Zumba exercises. The emcee was asking the runners to be at the centre of the field, where the stage was. We were supposed to be flagged off at 7.45am but were only flagged off at 8.15am and most of the runners started running before they officially flagged off. Perhaps due to the reason that most runners were already growing impatient and by just looking at the tiny balloon arch that hundreds of runners were supposed to go through, it was enough to make you ignore it.

When we were officially flagged off, Barney greeted us while the runners crashed the balloon arch and popped the balloons. Not sure why Barney, perhaps could not find a green dinosaur in accordance to their theme! 

The park was too crowded and you couldn't even run. You could only walk. When we arrived at the water station, there were not enough staff to serve the isotonic drink 100+, so some runners took the 100+ bottle and started pouring for themselves and the other runners. We were given a pathetic small little cup (the size of the kid’s cough syrup mixture cup) for the drink. I was like “What?”!

As we were approaching the lake, there were a lot of people at the lake, fishing to win prizes and the path for running was wet.

After passing the lake, it was the finishing line and the queue was long just to collect our goody bag. There was not many staff helping out in the event. 

I personally have to say that the event was not organised properly! Not many sponsors for this event and we had to buy our own Milo, if you feel like drinking it. We did not stay back for the colouring for kids and lucky draw.

Shark Hero Conservation Run 2017

• Flagged off at:-

5.00p.m for 4km fun run. The flag off was delayed due to the rain and massive jam heading into Sunsuria City

• Price – RM75.00 for age 13 years and above

              RM65.00 for 12 years and below  

• Running Kit – T-shirt, drawstring bag, registration bib, vouchers, advertisement pamphlets and Julie biscuits
• Goodies – Medal, certificate and a small bottle of carrot juice

Steve and Salaree joined this run while I went and enjoyed the carnival.

We were super-duper late leaving KL for Sepang. We left KL at 4pm and the flag off was supposed to be at 5pm. We were stuck in a massive crawl heading to Sunsuria. Luckily, we were not the only ones as we saw so many people were in the jam as well.

When we arrived, we were shocked that the runners had not been flagged off yet. Since it was raining earlier and jammed, hey, we were still on time. Before we were flagged off, the organiser was doing and singing to the Shark song. We were only flagged off at 5.30pm for the 1^st wave and 5.45pm for the 2^nd wave.

Steve and Salaree went for the run and enjoyed it as they were collecting badges along the way. Since I was not registered for the run, I decided to wonder around the place, while waiting for them to arrive.

I went to the developer’s office for some air-cond, watched the kids playing at the game area, had some snacks and drinks that were given out and played the wheel of biscuits to win Julie biscuits. Then I exchanged my coupons for some candy floss. I also wandered around to the food trucks.

Upon arrival at the finishing line, the runners were given their medals, certificates and a tiny bottle of carrot juice. We did not stay on for the carnival and lucky draw at night.

Candy Walkathon

• Flagged off at 7.30am for 4 km walk
• Price – RM45.00
• Running Kit – T-shirt, vouchers, Yogood cereal bar and biscuits, sweets, tattoo and registration bib
• Goodies – Rubber medal and banana

First time joining a walkathon. I thought that this walk was going to be fun with lots of activities for the kids, but I was wrong.

As Salaree and I arrived early for the walk, we hung around in the mall and took pictures with the giant candies at different stations. Thereafter, we went out for some air as there was no air-con in the mall as it was still too early.

While waiting to be flagged off, there were some warm-up exercises on stage. We were told that this walk is not a race and not to run. Just walk.

The organiser flagged us off on time. Everyone obeyed and nobody was running, all walking. As we were walking, my friend and I got very bored. We came to the 1^st station and it was just giant candies for you to take pictures with.

2^nd station, it was just platforms for the kids to play with, and I WAS WAITING….WHERE ARE THE REAL CANDIES? I want candies…..?

As we came to a junction, my friend said, no need to walk further and u-turn. Just turn and head to the finishing line. So, that’s what we did and went to the water station, serving only small bottles of mineral water. Then, my friend decided to stop in the 7-11 store to get some candies for the kids, otherwise they would be super disappointed.

We went to the finishing line, there were long queues for “Teh Tarik”, medal collection and McD orange juice.

Seriously, I would not want to join a walk or run in the future with this organiser. It looked so promising from their advertisement, but I did not expect to receive a rubber medal and no candies. Walking was also boring as there was nothing to see. It was a total disappointment to me.
