(Brought back recipe on how to make jelly, 5 small bags of jelly powder,
jelly art tools and our own decorated jellies; 1 jelly cake each of 3” and 8”)
This was my 1st
time attending a jelly cake decorating course. The jelly cakes were all prepared for
us on the table when we arrived.
We were given the recipe
and informed that the jelly cakes need at least 2 hours to harden and to let it
cool before decoration can commence. We were introduced to all types and kinds
of decorating tools. Each tool set costs about RM55-65 (depending on Silver or
Gold).
We were taught/informed
about:-
(a) how to make jelly colouring to be
injected into jelly cakes
-by using fruits, for example dragon fruit to create red
colour
(b) how
to hold the jelly art tools and which type of tools will create the different
flowers;
(c) how
to angle the tools so that the flowers created blossom and grow
-jellies injected must be close together and sometimes overlap
(d) what
to do if your needle is blocked
-put
into hot water and clean it;
(e) what
to do if your coloured jelly cools down
-need to put into microwave and make it hot again; and
(f) how
to remove the unnecessary jellies after injecting jellies into jellies
-remove
it by using a spoon while still hot
It was a very interesting
lesson and I enjoyed it. After decorating, another jelly layer was poured onto
the jelly to make the base.
