Field of Burnt Rice (Beras Terbakar), Langkawi – 25 September 2016

The entrance

We thought it was a big padi field with burnt rice, but in the end there was nothing much to see. In my personal view, it was a waste of time. However, if you are interested in history, then do come here for a visit.

We drove to Padang Matsirat, parked our car at an open space in front of a local market. Then, headed towards a village and cut across to our left into the local stores selling handicrafts, toys and drinks. After walking for approximately 5 minutes we arrived at the Field of Burnt Rice. It is located at the compound of the house belonging to Ku Halim Bin Ku Hassan.

Seven Wells Waterfalls, Langkawi – 24 September 2016

After our trip to the SkyCab, we drove to the Seven Wells Waterfalls which was just 5 minutes away.

We had to walk up a steep roaad from the car park or you can use the staircase at the side (behind the shops) to hike up.

It takes about 15 minutes to hike up to the 1st waterfall. You will see the toilet on your left and there is a sign asking you to turn left. Once you take the left turn, continue to follow the stairs and that will lead you to the 1st waterfall. It’s really breath taking. You can take a dip here if you want to. There are toilets and shower room but I wouldn’t say it was clean.

The next challenge is to continue to hike up to the top by climbing up the staircase. This can take approximately another 30-40 minutes from the 1st waterfall to the top. It can be physically challenging under the scorching heat and prior to reaching the top, it is best to take a rest and breather at the benches provided. Once you reach to the top, you will be soaking wet. Again, you get to see the beautiful waterfalls and walk on the bridge to take photos from the top. There are rocks and the rocks may be slippery, so be cautious when walking around.

While hiking up, beware of the monkeys and snakes. Also there will be insects everywhere, i.e. mosquitoes and spiders. Best to bring mozzie sprays or stickers to avoid the bites!

Once you are done climbing down the staircase, you can relax at the nearby shops selling drinks for some fresh cold coconut juice to reward you on your achievement. There are also snacks and ice creams.

It’s worth to visit this place.

SkyCab, Langkawi – 24 September 2016

From our resort at Pantai Cenang to SkyCab Langkawi, it took us approximately 30 minutes to drive.

Upon arrival, there is premier and normal parking. We decided to park at the normal parking as it was just a short distance to walk to the entrance. The price for normal parking was only RM5.00 for our few hours stay there.

Before reaching the ticket counter for the SkyCab, you will go through all the shops selling local handicrafts, t-shirts, souveniers, toys and drinks.

At the ticket counter, there will be guides rendering their help to guide you as to which combo package is suitable for your family. After going through all the combo packages with the guide, we decided on the basic package. Here are the details of the package and other packages:

If you choose Combo E, you will spent almost the whole day! That’s not what we wanted.

If you later decide that you would like to do other activities, you can still purchase the respective tickets at the entrance of the activities. The individual tickets will cost just a few ringgits more. But if you buy the Combo E, you are stuck and will have to go through each and every activity and queue up for it.

For the basic package, we got to visit the SkyDome and SkyCab. We were more interested in SkyBridge, for which we were told that, you can only purchase the tickets once you reach at the top. Our basic package did not include SkyBridge.

SkyDome. Not entertaining at all but you have to go through this before you board your SkyCab
SkyCab
SkyBridge
SkyGlide
After we have completed the above, we walked around the park and we were not very keen on other activities. We had snacks there for which the price was not cheap.

Check out the pricing for the other activities:

In my view, it’s worth to settle for the basic package. Check out the pictures below:-

Check out the queue. This is still alright

It's only RM1.00 but also absolutely rubbish. Don't waste your RM1.00

Cafe at Top Station

Tips:
  1. Try to go there early, around opening time.
  2. Upon buying your tickets, go straight for the SkyDome and SkyCab. The queue may be very long during peak season and weekends.
  3. Once you are on the Base Station for your SkyCab ride, take the SkyCab and go all the way up to the Top Station. Do not stop at the Middle Station as you may have difficulty in getting into the next SkyCab. Usually, tourists will go all the way up so the SkyCab that arrives at Middle Station will be full.
  4. It’s worth going for the SkyBridge. If you don’t like to walk down from the Top Station to the SkyBridge, it would be better to take the SkyGlide. Again, there will be queue as there is only one SkyGlide to bring you up and down.
  5. Once you are done with SkyCab and SkyBridge, go down to the Base Station and decide whether you would like to do the rest of the rides and museums.
  6. Remember to bring your hat and umbrella, as it's very hot. Please apply sun cream if you don't want to get burned.
