Bake O' Cake, M City

As we were walking around M City at Jalan Ampang to get to know the building better, we stumbled upon Bake O'Cake. This restaurant is situated on the ground floor, nearby the main entrance to the building. You won't miss it as you will be able to see their BIG yellow sign. We entered the restaurant as my little girl wanted to have some cupcakes and we wanted to have our dinner.

We sat down and we were told that this restaurant had just opened for business that day, as in 18 February 2017. Everything was so brand new, with a simple and chic interior.

They served breakfast, Western and a few local dishes. The menu below:

We ordered:

Kids Meal RM15.00. A combination of all kids' favourites; nuggets, french fries, meatballs and spaghetti and 1 cupcake of your choice from the cupcake counter. A very good combination for all kids. However, the spaghetti was a little bit spicy for my 4 year-old and insufficient sauce.

Grilled Chicken Burger RM23.00. As you can see the chicken burger is not a patty burger and it's chicken  meat, marinated and served with french fries.

BBQ Chicken Salad RM20.00. Salad consisted of sliced lettuce, corn, onion, red pepper and grilled sliced chicken topped with  BBQ and white dressing (couldn't actually tell which dressing it was)

My little girl chose the pink icing vanilla cupcake for her kids' meal. The vanilla cupcake was a bit dry.

She decided to order another cupcake for RM6.00. This one was with blue icing and chocolate cake. The icing was smooth and the chocolate cupcake was moist. I do recommend this cupcake.

Since it was the restaurant's opening, we were treated to a complimentary dessert (banana, caramel, cream biscuit). It was very nice, 1st layer of cream, caramel and banana on the 2nd layer and and crushed biscuit right at the bottom.
Iced Cappuccino RM13.00. If you don't like sweet, then this is not for you. I like it as it was to my taste.
Apart from food and beverages, as the name suggest, they sell:-

(a) a slice of cake (depending on which one you choose) cost around RM15.00 - RM17.00 per slice
(b) whole cake for RM130.00
(c) cupcakes and cookies- 1 for RM6.00 and 12 for RM60.00
(d) bread and buns that cost RM5.00 and above (depending on what you choose)

All the dishes were of reasonable portion. Since it was their soft opening, we were also given 10% discount on the total bill. Not sure how long the promotion will last. I do recommend you to check out this restaurant.

Peninsula Chinese Cuisine Restaurant – 9 February 2017

Entrance to the restaurant

Since it was still Chinese New Year and I wanted to eat Yee Sang and Dim Sum, we decided on this restaurant at Ara Damansara. My sister-in-law told us that there were discounts on their dishes and the food was not too bad.

These are the dishes we ordered:-

Salmon Yee Sang RM68.00. We were given a generous portion of salmon.

A variety of Dim Sum and the prices ranged from RM7.90-RM16.00. The selection was quite good and you have the waiters and waitresses bringing the selection of dim sun to your table. The typical way of serving dim sum in a Chinese restaurant.

Sang Har Noodles RM48.00. We were a little bit disappointed with this as there was not enough gravy for the noodles. When we were half way through our noodles, it  was all dried up. However, the prawns were big and fresh.

Siew Yok & Char Siew RM50.00.

Roast Duck RM35.00

The service in this restaurant, in terms of serving your food, was fast. However, our roast duck was served to us slowly. We were given 40% discount on the dim sum and 30% on the final bill. The above dishes together with our tea (RM7 per person) cost us RM281.20 inclusive of a service charge of 10% and GST of 6%. I would say the price was reasonable for 4 adults and 2 kids.

As Evolve Mall is still new, parking in the shopping mall is free to the public.
