Chocolate Run 2017

  • 21 January 2017
  • Taman Tasik Cyberjaya
  • Flagged off at 4.30p.m. for 10 km; 4.45p.m. for 6 km and 5.00p.m. for 3 km family run
  • My category – 6 km
  • Price – RM75.00 (in a group of 4 runners), otherwise is RM80.00 per runner
  • Race Pack – Blue T-Shirt, registration bib and vouchers
  • Goodies – Medal, a bowl with a packet of muffin, banana and Magnolia Chocolate milk

We arrived at the park at 3.30p.m. and walked towards the stage and noticed that there was zumba as a warm up for the runners.

The organiser started the run late as the 10k.m. runners were flagged off at 4.50pm and the 6km runners flagged off at 5.00pm. There was not much scenery, just buildings, offices and shops. It was a very smooth run, with no slopes at all.

There were 3 stations on the way. The 1st station served you 2 pieces of chocolate cookies and a bottle of mineral water; 2nd station served you a bottle of mineral water, Cloud 9 chocolates and Magnolia chocolate milk (but I was told that chocolate milk had run out) and 3rd station served you chocolate ice-cream. There were no portable toilets during the run and they were only provided at the starting line.

When we arrived at the finishing point, we were given our medals.

However, to get the bowl of goodies, the queue was so long that you just lose interest in wanting to collect it. Most of my friends didn’t even bother to queue to collect it. As for me, I went straight to the bowl collection and picked up my bowl of goodies and none of the organisers cared. Basically, the queue was not moving at all and the runners were taking their own sweet time to choose their bowl! All the bowls were the same, just grab it and go.

There were lucky draws but we decided to leave as Hannah and Salaree wanted to go to the playground.

Score Run – Conquer the City 2016

  • 30 October 2016
  • Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur
  • Flagged off at:-
6.00a.m. for 15km
6.30a.m. for 6km

  • Price – RM54.00 (inclusive of GST of RM3.06)
  • Race Pack – A paper bag, vouchers, Tape Fit, personalised name T-Shirt and registration bib
  • Goodies – Medal, 1 kiwi, mineral water, cereals
This run was organised by Berjaya Times Square and since it’s running in the city, the organiser flagged the 15 km runners off sharp at 6.00am and 6 km runners at 6.30am. They had to start so early, otherwise it will be super-jammed in KL city centre on a Sunday morning.

Starting point
We were informed by the emcee that there were 7,000 runners. We believed that they received huge support due to the personalised t-shirt, i.e. the organiser printed your given name on the back of your T-shirt. There was no warm-ups organised for the runners.

It was super-crowded and difficult to run. We were running on the roads and highways. For the 6km run, we ran heading towards Jalan Bellamy (behind the old Istana Negara) and I finally found the Alice Smith International primary school campus, then we headed towards Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka and back to the city centre, Berjaya Times Square.  The roads were not completely closed, often there was only 1 lane for the runners to run on.

There were 2 uphill runs. There were portable toilets prepared by the organisers. Also, 4 water stations for the 15km runners and 1 water station for the 6 km runners, i.e. at 3.8km, both served Revive isotonic drink and mineral water.

Upon arrival, we were given our medal and mineral water. Then I walked towards the entrance of Berjaya Times Square mall to claim my Zepri Kiwi fruit. Then, went over to the cereal counter for breakfast. I had 3 bowls of cereal to fill up my tummy with a cup of Milo from the Milo truck again. Thanks to Sheila’s brother, who managed to queue for it and gave me his.

There were activities being organised after the run. This was my last run for 2016. More runs coming up in 2017.

Diva Dash Run KL 2016

  • 3 September 2016
  • Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur
  • Flagged off at:-
7.15a.m. for 12km
7.30a.m. for 6km

  • Price – RM48.39 (inclusive of transaction fee of RM3.39)
  • Race Pack – None. Just Pink t-shirt and registration bib
  • Goodies – Medal and a bun

For the first time, I missed out on the collection of the running pack, so the organiser decided to have another one (unofficial) at Padang Merbok, the day before the run. So the collection was supposed to be from 2.00p.m -7.00p.m. I arrived at 1.50p.m. and to my surprise there was no one there. I saw a group of ladies chatting and I approached them. They also said they are waiting for the person–in-charge to arrive.

At 2.10p.m., we were asked to collect our T shirts first as the person-in-charge of the bibs had yet to arrive. People were complaining as we needed to go back to the office to work. I even wrote a comment on Facebook and Rinnie called someone from the organiser and they said that person on the way.

That person-in-charge arrived at 2.25p.m. and sorted out the bibs, not even apologising to those of us who came early and waited for her. How sad………

After giving her my particulars, as I was not given a bib number earlier (seems like priority was given to 12km runners), I had to approach the earlier lady again to get my bib number. After I raised my voice a bit, they decided to find my bib, I took it and left. How frustrating……………..

The day of the run

Rinnie and myself arrived early at 6.40am and were surprised that there were not many people who signed up for this run.  It was also drizzling but stopped just before the run.

The organiser flagged the 12 km runners early at 7.08am and the 6 km runners were flagged off at 7.30am sharp.

Photos before the run

It was a cooling run after the slight drizzle. Padang Merbok is known for its hilly runs and it was nice to see the big bungalow houses along our run. If you need the toilet, too bad, as portable toilets were not prepared by the organisers. There was only 1 water station, serving 100+ isotonic drink and mineral water in the middle of the 6 km route.

Upon arrival, we were asked to collect our medals and were given a bun. The 1st 100 runners that arrived for the 12km run got an extra t-shirt. There were cash prizes and gifts to be won for the fastest runners of 12km category.

I rushed to the Milo truck to get my cold Milo drink. It was super refreshing! The best thing of all, I had 5 cups and there was no queue. There were also 100+ isotonic drinks available but I was not too keen on that.

See, no queue

After most of the runners arrived, they started the zumba session. It was not hard core zumba, only simple steps.
