I was complaining why are the tickets so expensive? We decided on 1 day passes (wet and dry parks), for 2 adults and 1 kid, which cost us RM490 as that worked out slightly cheaper than the “Buy 2 adult tickets and free 1 kid ticket” promotion. You really need to check for promotional tickets from time to time once you have decided on your dates.

Legoland Malaysia opens from 10am till 7pm and as it was the 1^st term school holiday in Malaysia, we thought it was going to be super crowded.

  

We arrived at 9.50am and parked at the open air car park (RM10.00 per car, per entrance although we left after Legoland closed and it was free parking at that time) and walked about 7 minutes to the entrance of Legoland. We had to queue for a while and our bags were checked. Basically, you are not allowed to bring in food and drinks bought outside of Legoland. However, you can bring in water and baby food.

Dry Park

There are 5 lands to cover, namely:-

(a) Lego Technic (you will find Star Wars here);
(b) Lego Kingdoms (you will find castles and dragons);
(c) Imagination (the Duplo playtown is here. Also, the new Lego Ninjago's ride is here);
(d) Land of Adventure; 
(e) Lego City (driving school); and
(f) Miniland (miniature architecture Lego of famous landmarks in Malaysia and other South East Asia countries).

A lot of people told us that you need a hat, umbrella and sun cream. We were quite fortunate that it was raining (not heavily) and it was not hot at all. The weather was just nice and there were not many people on that day.

At the dry and wet parks, please check at the entrance of the rides for the posted age, height and safety restrictions. There are certain rides that are not suitable for the younger age groups.  

Water Park 

Guess what? We covered both parks in just 1 day. Thank God for the rain and no queues for all rides.

Overall, for the price of the tickets, it’s worth it. The kids enjoyed it the most and they said they wanted to go back there again!

What to wear and bring?

• Light thin clothes and shorts
• Cap
• Sun cream
• Small umbrella or poncho
• Water
• Swimsuit, towel, goggles for wet park

How to go about the park? What to do first? How to get the best value of my ticket?

• I would recommend you to go for the dry park 1st as it's bigger and then to the water park. Kids will take a long time playing at the water park and may refuse to proceed to the dry park. Also, after a swim, you need to shower and that may take some time. 
• If you are at the dry park, proceed to the 1st adventureland. Queue for the ride that you want to ride 1st. Once you are done with the 1st adventureland, proceed to the next one. 
• Eat your lunch at the dry park as there are more choices compared to the water park.
• Allocate 2 hours at the water park.
• Take photos at the Miniland.
• Leave shopping till the end of your visit, otherwise you may have to carry around or you may rent a locker.

Gin Ger Thai Cuisine - 14 March 2017

I used to come to this restaurant quite often and I think the last time I was here, it was way back in 2011. As it was near to my office and we all liked the food there, my colleagues and I decided to bring our Boss here to celebrate his birthday.

 We ordered:-

Our appetizer, potato crisps with sauce 

Clear Seafood Tom Yam RM12.00 per bowl. The sweet and sour soup with slices of fish, small prawns, squids, chicken meat, oyster mushroom, tomatoes and mint. 

Spicy Green Mango Salad (medium) RM23.00. A mixture of sliced mango, onion, “cili padi” and red chilies with lime juice. Its crispy sliced mango is good but it was sad that there were no longer peanuts topped onto the salad. I remember clearly there used to be peanuts which added to its crunchiness. If you can’t take spicy, try to avoid the “cili padi”.

Crispy Butter Fish Fillet (medium) RM44.00. The fish fillet was battered and crispy with a butter mix. The fish fillet somehow was not to my liking as it tasted ordinary and in my view, crispy butter would be better on battered prawns!

Green Curry Chicken (medium) RM33.00. Normally green curry is supposed to be spicy but for this dish, it was not spicy at all. It’s creamy and you can drink the curry on its own. In my view, this dish is cooked specially for the tourists, who are unable to take spicy curry and prefer chicken with no bones, as the chicken meat was sliced.

Pucuk Paku Thai Syle (small) RM14.00. This used to be my favourite dish. Pucuk paku is supposed to be crunchy. However, the pucuk paku was soft. Also, you may think that it is cooked in a Thai style, but this dish is also not spicy and has a slightly sweet taste.

Stir Fried Asparagus with Prawn (small) RM32.00. Normal stir fried with garlic.

Claypot Bean Curd with Minced Chicken RM27.00. Non-spicy dish. A good dish for the kids. 

Pattaya Omelette (medium) RM27.00. When this dish arrived, I could see that it was slightly watery at the bottom of the omelette. There was chicken meat, mushroom, tomatoes and chili. Not really a spicy dish.  

Water Chestnut RM9.00. Shaved ice with red chestnut and sliced jackfruit, topped with milk and red sugar syrup. I always save this dessert for my tummy and I do highly recommend it.

Cendol Gula Melaka RM8.00. Adding in the gula Melaka and milk to the shaved ice, red kidney bean and long green jelly.

This restaurant is always packed during lunch time and the service can be slow sometimes. We always call the restaurant and book our dishes a day or a few hours in advance to enable the chef to prepare. Once you have pre-booked your dishes, this will save you a lot of time.

Viva Vertical Graduation – 11 March 2017

So, it’s the time of the year again for the students of Viva Vertical, who managed to complete their beginner, intermediate, intermediate-advanced courses in pole, aerial hoop or aerial silk to receive their certificates.

The event started at 2.30pm and prior giving out the certificates to the students, there were performances of pole, aerial hoop and silk by the students and instructors.   

I performed aerial hoop together with my mates.

Application to Kuen Cheng 2 primary school - 3 March 2017

The name Kuen Cheng is enough to scare most of us, as we all know it's a high performance school.  NOBODY told me that this primary school was next to the Kwong Tung and Hokkien cemeteries though!!!

Steve and I went there close to midnight as we wanted to know where the school is situated for us to submit Salaree's application early the next morning.  Waze took us the shorter route through the unlit cemetery. Freaking eerie, scared the shit out of us!! The graves were so close to the road. I swear to you

that the pictures of the dead uncles and aunties were staring at us.

So, the next day, we went to the school and luckily there was no queue at all.

Entrance to the school. You need to register at the guard house. The guard will ask you to go to the office located on the 1st floor.

Sample form- How to fill up, step-by-step:

All you need to do:-

(a) Fill up the form on the spot (i.e. particulars of parents, NRIC numbers, occupation, house address, office address, telephone numbers, how much your salary, distance from your address to the school); and

(b) bring along your kid's birth certificate, parents' NRIC, electricity or water bill (original and photocopy).

You don't need to bring self-stamped envelope as you can purchase it from the office at RM3.00. I brought envelopes and was told that one is too big and the other too small.

We submitted the application and I was told to purchase books. I said, "Why?".  These books will prepare your child for the ENTRANCE EXAM in May 2018 !!! You have 1 year to prepare your child. I was like OMG! OMG! OMG! The books were not expensive, it was around RM23 or RM27 for 6 books (can't remember the exact price as we were in shock).

I asked the receptionist, if my child doesn't get in, what to do with the books and she said your child can still use it for Standard 1 in other school. It's not a MUST to purchase, but recommended.

So, all in, filling up the application and submission of the application, it took us about 15 minutes only!!

LATEST UPDATES

I called Kuen Cheng 2 on 23 November 2017 to find out whether they have set the entrance exam date and one Puan Siti (person-in-charge) told me that they have not set the date yet. Normally, it will be held sometime in April or May.

Then she informed me that I have to submit my child's application to Standard 1 online at http://public.moe.gov.my. I told her when I applied manually back in March this year, you said no need to apply online after submission manually. She said they received direction from the Ministry of Education to request all parents that had previously applied manually, to also submit online.

After submission online, she said to print out the:-

(a) Borang Permohonan Tahun Satu, Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia; and
(b) Borang Persetujuan Perkhidmatan Kesihatan dan Imunisasi

and to send the same to her at the school. She also said to quote your child's application reference number on the hardcopy of the Borang Permohonan, which the application reference number is stamped at the back of your child's certificate.

PARENTS - PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE ABOVE.

The entrance exam date is out !! It will be held on 5 May 2018 (Saturday). I did not receive the letter from Kuen Cheng 2, which the school had sent out to all applicants. I called them and was asked to collect it personally from the school. At the same time, we filled up a reply slip to say that our kiddo will be attending the entrance exam.
