Ishin Japanese Dining – 31 March 2017

We came here for our corporate conveyancing department’s dinner. This restaurant serves genuine Japanese and Kaiseki style cuisines that are cooked to order and their ingredients are imported from Japan. This restaurant is operated in an old bungalow house along the busy Jalan Kelang Lama. We booked way in advance for a table of 14 and we were informed that we would have to come for dinner between 6.30-8.00pm (1st seating) and thereafter our table will be given to guests of the 2nd seating. The restaurant is small and they do not have many tables.

We ordered the following set dinner course:-

Sushi Tempura Zen RM61.00. We were given a bento set and were served with a few types of sushi, tempura prawns, potato and vegetable, soup, chawanmushi and fruits. I personally like the tempura, dipped with light sweet soya sauce. However, the sushi rice was a bit hard.

Seafood Teppanyaki RM55.00. There was salmon, prawns and scallops and it was served with salad, soup, fried rice and fruits. The seafood was quite fresh.

Beef Teppanyaki RM61.00.

Chicken Teppanyaki RM42.00

Curry Rice RM37.00. Tasted more of curry powder.....

Macha Ogura RM17.00. I do recommend the green tea ice-cream with red bean.
Goma Ice cream RM20.00. The black sesame ice-cream also tasted very nice.

Chocolate Parfait RM19.00. If you like cream and mousse, this will be the dessert for you.

Mix Mochi RM33.00. Beautifully shaped as little fruits and pumpkins and tasted good.

The extensive menu (from the tablet) offers something for everyone. They have soba, teppanyaki, tempura, don, different kind of fishes and seafood, salads, ice-creams and mochi.  So even if you do not like Japanese food, you will still be able to find something to suit your taste buds.

The price for the food and desserts is not cheap. In my view you can get better Japanese food elsewhere for the price.

The service is quite fast and there is a free valet parking service. Your car will be parked by the jockey nearby the bungalow house and will not be in front of the house.

SpongeBob Run 2017

  • 26 March 2017
  • Setia City Park
  • Supposed to flag off at 7a.m. but all runners were flagged off at 8.10a.m.
  • My category – 3 km (accompanying my little girl)
  • Price – RM85.00 per runner for early bird and RM95 for normal rate
  • Race Pack – Fluorescent yellow t-shirt, drawstring bag, SpongeBob pillow, registration bib and Sunway Lagoon vouchers
  • Goodies – Medal and a bottle of mineral water
We were asked by the organiser (on their facebook page) to arrive at Setia City Park at 6.30a.m. We arrived at 6.10a.m., parked our car at the open car park (which was not free and we had to pay RM4.00) and walked towards the stage. The organisers and sponsors were setting up their booth.

All the runners waited and waited and waited. An emcee came to stage at about 7a.m. and there were so many runners already queuing behind the starting point and the emcee told those runners to come to the front of the stage for warm-ups and safety briefing.

We were getting tired of waiting and the emcee kept on saying, we will start soon. But when? No time was mentioned at all. What was the organiser waiting for? Nobody knew what happened that day.

The emcee did the warm-up with us at 7.30a.m. He was hilarious and trying his best to entertain us, which he did. After the warm-up and safety briefing, we were asked to walk towards the starting line. Again, we had to wait for radio deejays to give speeches and they brought out SpongeBob to the starting line. They flagged us off in 2 waves, ignoring whether you are running 3 km or 5 km. We were at the side of the starting point and ran in the first wave.

1st wave to run

I was impressed that my little girl was running. There was one water station only for both 3km and 5km runners, serving mineral water and Revive isotonic drinks. We took both of the drinks. After a brief stop, we continued to run. There were times my little girl walked as she was tired already. She said she wanted to walk back to the starting point. I kept on encouraging her to run on…..

Run Baby Run

When she saw the finishing line, she decided to speed up to get her medal. She finished the run in 30 minutes. It was a very smooth run, on the road with no slopes at all.

There she goes......
Since daddy is one of the top 5 runners for the day, he decided to play games at the carnival and won stickers for Salaree and got himself a big bottle of Pokka Peach tea for us. All of us queued up later for the Astro spin and win game. We won an Astro sticker and fan and ice-cream potong. Salaree managed to get the ice-cream potong with her spinning wheel.

So happy with her ice-cream potong and the next thing you, ice-cream dropped down.
